Mantener el juicio nace de la colaboración entre el Teatro Petra y la Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz (JEP), pero no es una obra propagandística, didáctica ni institucional. Con casi 40 años de trayectoria ininterrumpida, Teatro Petra ha abordado el conflicto colombiano desde diversas perspectivas, siempre buscando comprender las razones de todas las partes involucradas. En esta ocasión, la obra se inspira en la labor de la JEP, cuyo objetivo principal es juzgar los delitos más graves cometidos durante el conflicto armado, enfocándose en la reparación a las víctimas y en la construcción de una paz duradera. Aunque está basada en hechos reales, la obra se presenta como una ficción que combina elementos de distintas historias para construir una narrativa que invita a la reflexión.
En escena, la señora Fabiola busca que el nombre de sus dos hijos, asesinados y mostrados como guerrilleros sea resarcido. Para lograr eso deberá verse cara a cara con Yesid quien los mató y los enterró en una fosa. Por otro lado, Doña Rosalba no quiere verle la cara a Fidel Franco, el comandante guerrillero que tuvo secuestrado y encadenado a su esposo durante 5 largos años. Mientras tanto, el General Monsalve se niega aceptar cargos y no cree en la imparcialidad de esta corte. En medio de ellos tambien están los magistrados, magistradas y facilitadores.
Esta pieza gira en torno a una pregunta fundamental: ¿Es posible restaurar la vida de alguien que ha sido devastado por la violencia?, la cual tiene implicaciones tanto para las víctimas como para los responsables, y se aborda a través de las experiencias personales de cada uno de los personajes.
